CorelDRAW 12 - Merge data and Pictures

Hi,

I have CorelDRAW 12.  I want to make flyers for a group of people.  I want the same flyer for each person with only their name, phone, etc. changed.  I know I can do this with Print Merge but I also have a personal picture of each person that goes on the flyer.  How can I accomplish this?

Thank you,
Joe

Hi,

As far as I'm aware you can only merge textual information with the Print Merge feature which was generally designed for situations where text changeed from one version to another such as tickets, certificates etc.
There might be other tools or addons that might let you do what you're asking, otherwise, if you know php or a similar script you could make a webstyle script that could generate the final images for you.
What other graphics programs do you have, and do you have MS Word?
Hi joe,

How many people are we talking about?

You could use the Object Manager to place all the common elements in a Master Page and then create individual pages for each person with their name an photo. The name part can be done quite quickly (assuming you already have a list typed in a word processor) using Text Frames of the appropriate size and simply importing the whole list of names and letting it flow. However, placing the photos would need to be a manual job.

If all the photos are of the size all you'd need to do is Import and select ALL of them from the folder they're in, and place them in the Desktop area, outside the page borders. That way you can navigate to the corresponding page and drag a photo to its position in it. Again, depending on how many people are we talking about this may take some time.

Good Vibes!

Hi,

I have MS Word 2003 - that is how I currently do the flyers.  I thought CorelDRAW would be better.  Word's {INSERT PICTURE {MERGEFIELD xxx} } is a pain.  Also, for some reason, everytime I save the document it keeps the last picture used and I have to re-enter the INSERT PICTURE info over the next time I open the document (this just started happening with 2003 as far as I know).

One thing I was thinking of doing was creating a layer for each person with their personal info and picture and another layer with the general info.  You would think with such advanced software this would be a pretty easy thing to do.  Maybe someone else has a suggestion.  I would really like to use CorelDRAW though seeing as I just bought it.

Thank you,
Joe

Hi Lobo,

I guess we posted our comments almost at the same time.  Is what I described (layers) the same thing as you're talking about?  I'm not familiar with Object Manager.  I just upgraded from version 7 to 12 - maybe it's new, maybe it's always been there.  I currently have about 20 people I would be doing flyers for.

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the help.  I guess I'll do it this way.  Hopefully it is a feature that Corel can add in the next version.
