Search Engine Optimization Suggestions

Hi!

We have a site that is indexed by Google, but it's position is about 550.

I would greatly appreciate any ideas how I can make this site more Google friendly.

Please be as specific as possible.

Also according to our log our site has been visited by the MSNbot several times, but we are still not indexed.
Any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

Thanks!

Hi Corey!

I just tried it and it works for me.

Are you using dialup or a high speed internet connection?

It works now - high speed.

Sorry I just noticed your second question.

MSNBot is a prototype crawler and at the moment does not influence msn search results which are powered by Inktomi.  You can submit to Inktomi here http://submitit.bcentral.com/msnsubmit.htm but I would tidy up your code first.

Hi Duz!

I used a template to create the site and did not know about the alt tags apparently this is something the author put in the templates.

What would you call a image that is a border or check mark, etc?

Thank you in advance.

Just that! It is designed to be a text representation of the image when the user has images turned off in their browser i.e. the visually impaired with text to speech software for example. Make sure it is under 80 characters in length and if you need more use longdesc.
