Site not showing in Google anymore?

Hi,

My site had been in the top ten listing for over a year.  Now, for the past two/three weeks it does not even exisit on Google.  What can I do abou this?

One reason this may have happened is that I usually submit my site once a month to all the search engines- including Google.  Google may be considering this as spamming.  Where as in the past- it wasn't.

Why do you think this happened?  So what can I do to correct this?

Constantly resubmitting your site is a largely a pointless undertaking.  It is unlikely to cause harm, though, especially if you were manually submitting.  If you were doing it through some kind of automated software or service, you're more likely to annoy them, but that would be less related to the actual submission of your URL than other things the software/service might be doing.

Try to think about what you might have changed most recently - ie. did you add a bunch of links?  One or more of these might point to a link farm, for example - this would cause a penalty.  This is the first step you can take to diagnosing this yourself.  Another would be to read Google's Webmaster Guidelines to see if you are doing anything that could cause such a penalty.

If you want specific help tracking down the problem, post your URL here.

The URL is:

http://cyberereminder.com

Keywords was reminder
As noted above, I think the problem is your outgoing links.  In your links pages, you have 2615 outgoing links "generated by AddWeb LinkTrader by Cyberspace HQ".  I don't know if you've recently started using this service, but it's a very bad idea and could very easily cause the problems you are now experiencing.  You must qualify every link you place on your site to make sure you aren't linking to a 'bad neighborhood'.  Also, all links are not created equal - you want quality links, not a mass of questionable, unrelated links.

I would strongly recommend that you get rid of this service immediately and review the proper linking and link-exchange procedure here: www.seo-guy.com/tutorial.html (you would do well to take the time to review the whole tutorial while you're at it).  You should also read Google's Webmaster Guidelines (www.google.com/intl/en/webmasters/guidelines.html) - it will provide further insight into why this approach is likely harming your SERP position, especially:

"Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or "bad neighborhoods" on the web as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links."

A couple of related threads that you may want to review as well:
https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21311183/Reciprocal-Linking.html
https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21324594/purveyor-of-links-wants-outbound-links-and-promises-inbound-links.html
You are much better off using either www.cyberereminder.com OR cyberereminder.com.  Search engines will perceive the different domains as different websites and will index each separately.  Therefore, your PageRank etc. will be shared among two sites rather than benefitting a single site.  Likewise, you could potentially be penalized for duplicate content.
Upon further review your website is in dire need of optimization.  You should definitely read (comprehensively) the SEO-guy tutorial above.  A lack of optimization is not the cause of your immediate problem, but if you are going to get your site listed again, you might as well do it right and improve your SERP position.

I have had those links for the past two years.

Why all of a sudden, is it not in Google? The site was listed before in Google.  What else could it be?

You have been sandboxed.

>Why do you think this happened?

Impossible to say for certain without a long and detailed debriefing of everything you have done, when and in what order.

>So what can I do to correct this?

1. Delete all outbound links pages.

2. Delete the robots.txt files, interesting content but not valid :)

3. Put in a 301 redirect from http://www.cyberereminder.com/ to http://cyberereminder.com/

Then you will be back in a few months or less even.

Duz-

How do I do Step 3?
That depends, are you using Apache or IIS?  If Apache, do you have access to your .htaccess file (you may or may not depending on your hosting situation).  Do you use PHP or ASP?

OK, I didn't know the .htaccess file could do this..

Thanks.
It can and is the preferred way to go :)

You can read about how and why here: www.tamingthebeast.net/articles3/spiders-301-redirect.htm.  The section on redirecting entire sites (ie. http://www.cyberereminder.com to http://cyberereminder.com) can be found near the bottom.

>How do I do Step 3?

Put this in your .htaccess

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.cyberereminder\.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://cyberereminder.com/$1 [R=301,L]

Then check that it's working.

Don't forget to do 1. & 2. in the list first.
