Import Fireworks webpage into Dreamweaver
This involves Dreamweaver 4 and Fireworks 4.
I have created a web site in Dreamweaver but I have created the main page in Fireworks 4. When I export the Fireworks web page as Main.html in the web site folder and then open Dreamweaver and open Main.html it displays the everything as a single graphic and I can't do anything with it, like modify it or insert more graphis, .swf, animations...
How can I export the Fireworks web page and import it into Dreamweaver as a html file that can be fully edited?

Here is what I have on the Fireworks page
A single line going across the top about 1/4 in wide.
On the right are 5 buttons, white background so they are invisible except for the text.
5 images, one on top of the other - slices, that are disjoint rollovers for the 5 buttons.
I did use slices on the 5 images.
But when I export the page from Fireworks as html then open it in Dreamweaver everything, the line, buttons and images are treated as a single image. The disjoint rollovers work but I want to make some additions to the page that I am unable to make in Fireworks, such as add a swf, that I created in another app, across the top.
As you can probably tell this is my first attempt at both Fireworks and Dreamweaver.

If you bring the Fireworks portion into Dreamweaver in the following fashion you will be able to deal with some of the elements directly in Dreamweaver.
First export your design from Fireworks as "HTML and IMAGES"
From within Dreamweaver.
Select INSERT/INTERACTIVE IMAGES/ FIREWORKS HTML
and direct it to the HTML file created by Fireworks when you exported the design as HTML.
This will bring the slices and associated code into Dreamweaver.
You will then be able to edit the page you added the Fireworks code to as well as the HTML that Fireworks generated. However since FW sliced up the original image into slices and generated Javascript for your rollover buttons this portion is best modified in Fireworks and added back to DW in the above fashion after first deleting the related code.
When changes to the original FW design are needed I usually find the FW javascript and any HTML related to the inserted design in a DW page and delete it. I then after modify FW and reinsert it into the DW page.
Using comments to identify the FW code after inserting is helpful in locating it at a later date.
Somebody may know a better method as this is cumbersome at times.

lovemeto,
Am I from EE? Yes, in the sense that I'm one of the Moderators here... No, in the sense that I'm not on EE's payroll.

Well, once you have created a site in fireworks, you have to split the image with the slice tool (a little green square)...
When done, you have to export your html file and open it in dreamweaver... let me know if you need mor help... =0)
cheers
