and please note that you cannot run ASP on Windows XP Home Edition.

also note that IIS is not installed by default in WinXP Pro, you may need to put the CD back in and use add/remove programs to add IIS to your system.

Oh Hell,

I have Home Edition, Is there third party software, or another server that can be installed to generate asp pages ?

I checked out the url you suggested but doesn't help Home edition users.

Thanks

Yes, that's true, you can't run IIS on windows xp home. There are articles out there about ways to install it on winxp home anyway, but there are long and sometimes they cause the OS to stop working properly. I wouldn't risk it.

You would have to pay for the upgrade to winxp pro I think, or, go back to win2000.

Sorry amigo,

Helj

I dont think there are any 'free' third party apps that can run ASP pages. Chilisoft is one company that makes an ASP server product, but its not cheap.

Take a look here.

You can download here PWS to run your ASP code...

http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/nts/downloads/recommended/NT4OptPk/win95dl.asp

IIS on windows XP is great (Pro Edition)

You can try to install PWS but I hope it will work!

Good Luck!

You can install apache with asp Chilisoft www.chilisoft.com
(the developer version of chilisoft ASP is for free)

Active Server Pages (ASP) is Microsoft’s first server-side engine for dynamic web pages. ASP’s support of the Component Object Model (COM) enables it to access and use compiled libraries such as DLLs. It has been superseded by ASP.NET, but will be supported by Internet Information Services (IIS) through at least 2022.
