Urgent! IIS 6.0 Application Pool not working

I am running Server 2003 w/ IIS 6.0  I have not been able to access the website getting an error :"The page cannot be displayed"after troubleshooting I found IIS works in run www services in 5.0 isolation mode... this runs the sites without using the app pool?  i have removed and reinstalled asp.net and created a new pool.  It still does not work any ideas?

I'm currently having this issue as well.  I got mine working (mostly) by setting all the "Web Serive Extensions" to 'Allowed'.  This allowed my pages to display but HTTP download links aren't quite working.  I doubt I need all the extensions set that way but I'm still testing.  Try that and see what happens.
What errors are you receiving in your event logs?

Hi,

why do you want to use the app pool? running in isolated mode will still give applications protection from other apps on the same server.

Cheers.

I need to use the app pool to run sharepoint services... it needs to be in worker process isolation mode... Where are the logs you want me to look at.  Under Event Viewer there are no significant entries from IIS
This is from the log C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\HTTPERR\httperr1.log

Is there anything in Event Viewer related to W3WP, W3SVC, or INETINFO?

Also, is this machine a Domain Controller?

Dave Dietz
what is the application?  Did you write it yourself or get it from someone else?  Can you talk to whoever wrote it about this issue?

Cheers.

Thank you.. I had tried it as local system and didn't work ... 2 days ago... but, never tried IWAM... it worked for now... Thanks a ton.  If anyone knows the KB article that would be great!
Check the following article, and to a lesser extent, the second:

DCPROMO does not retain permissions on some IIS folders
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;332097

You receive a "Service Unavailable" error message when you browse an IIS 6.0 Web page on a Windows Server 2003-based domain controller

What causes this problem? The DeafultAppPool identity is the default IIS put in there: Predefined -> Network Service.
It seems to occur when I send in alot of requests one after the other. I have a test program that sends in some 30 various requests to the application one after the other and it waits on the repsonse for each request. WHen I run the test on one clinet it runs thruogh fine to completion. When I run the program from more than one client this problem shows up, sometimes alsmost right away and sometimes near the end of the sequence of requests being sent. I don't get it.

Also does anyone know if you can make a setting to have the httperr1.log show the time in local time instead of GMT, the times shown are 6 hours ahead of the local time.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
