'm using Joomla to develop a site. I have a pdf file that I want users to be able to access.
- The pdf file needs to be updated from time to time. I'd like to be able to do this in Joomla.
- The user should be able to click a menu item and get the pdf immediately.
I've tried using docman, but that's pretty heavy-weight. The user has to click a menu, then in docman click a category and then finally click the file. For changes, the admin has to upload the file, make an associated doc, ... Too much bother just to access or update a single file.
What I'm trying to do would be real easy in, say, MS FrontPage: include the file with the site and have a menu link to it. It ought to be easy in Joomla, too ...

well, i think i finally figured it out. someone needs to write a joomla for dummies ... or at least a joomla for frontpage users. i can use an editor like tiny fck to upload a file and then create a link in a static doc to that file. that's what i was trying to do, and it took me a _long_ time to figure that out.

I'm not sure exactly what you want to do with the pdf in the first part of the question.. embed the pdf ? allow users to change the pdf?

Simply create a new menu item of type "URL" and insert the full URL path of your PDF file as part of that link.
