By the way ... I assume by "spoofed" you mean read and abused by bots, etc. If you mean something else then please clarify your question.
If you can avoid it then don't even put the email on the site. Contact forms are a great alternative. I do know there are case where you just must show it though and that is why the methods I mentioneds above are so nice. ;)

A common way is to use clientside script like Javascript to "translate" an obfuscated email address. In many cases bots don't seem to go to the trouble to run scripts and so the email address looks like garbage.

There are lots of ways to do this. A simple example just has it in parts and then puts it together with Javascript. Another may encode it in hex or some other format to make the characters themselves hard to read.
