The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How can I use php to change page content by date?

Hi,
I've been asked by a fitness instructor to automatically change a webpage so that a different fitness programme is displayed each week.
The url will remain static however the body of the page will change.

I'm sure this could be achieved using an SQL database, however I would like to have a folder on the  server, with pre-prepared content e.g. "www.mysite.co.uk/weekly_content/"
which contains a folder "weekly_content" with a unique html file for each week of the year, e.g. date.html
file 1= "01_01_2009.html"
file 2= "08_02_2009.html"
file 3= "15_02_2009.html"
etc for 52 weeks of the year

so html file 1 is displayed up until the 7th of January 2009 then replaced on the 8th by file 2.

I have discovered csDynamic
http://www.cgiscript.net/cgi-script/csNews/csNews.cgi?database=cgi.db&command=viewone&id=62
which allows shceduled changes on specific dates, as does RandText Pro
http://www.pointafter.com/randtextpro.htm

which are neat paid for solutions, however I don't want to create a schedule, I'd rather simply ftp my 52 pages to the web server and allow a php page to do the auto scheduling.

NB I have found a similar bit of php code to change images on a page each day, I think it should elicit what I'm after. See:
http://www.totallyphp.co.uk/scripts/display_a_different_image_for_each_day_of_the_week.htm

Thanks,

Owen
