strip smart quotes in movable type

is there a way to globally convert all curly quotes to straight in mt?
My site looks fine but the rss feeds are producing garbage when it comes to smart quotes

Do you know what is putting the smart quotes in to start with?

I've only ever used MS Word for these quotes.

You can turn them off in Word, but if you are accepting documents from many users, then this is not an option.
