Embedded ActiveX control in a webpage doesn't re-initialize on page refresh

I have an activex control that I wrote in VB6. It works great! The main function fires off on UserControl_Initialize (inside the activex).

The problem is, is that if the user refreshes the page, I want my activex to restart and re-run its function. The only way I can get the UserControl_Initialize to fire is to close the browser completely and goto the webpage again.

Is there another event that I could execute code from within the Activex to look for a refresh? What about javascript on the webpage itself on the body onload event? Something like document.ActiveX.somefunction()?

Hi,  I'm surprised it doesn't reinitialise, but if you do it from Javascript that could give you more  control/options or a way to see what's going on.

Something like the example fragment below should do it.  ..hope that helps, Mike

Ok i see where you are going... but how does this happen if I am loading the active x using this method?:

In that case the "id" should give the name for Javascript to find your ActiveX, so the Javascript call should be

SomeName.init();

or document.SomeName.init();

MikeRCWatts: I get "Object doesn't support this property or method." I also tried SomeName.Initialize as well

What else could it be?

Please forgive me if this is an obvious question, but just to confirm thatt Iniitialize and or init were public methods of your ActiveX?
