Create an ActiveX control to print an HTML Label from a web browser to a Zebra 2844

Hello, I was wondering if I can find someone here to design me an ActiveX control so can print an HTML Label on a Zebra 2844 4X6 Label without having to mess with browsers page margins. Im currently using a DLL based control that I need to install on the clients machine to print to the printer. So basically Im looking for an ActiveX control that can take an HTML page and set the margins to 0 so I can print to the zebra printer. Any takers? I need it ASAP and willing pay for it! Ill need the source code when complete!

Hi samic400, ok I have a shipping label that prints on a 4x6 peel back label from a zebra 2844 label printer. Im using a software called Active Label from NewObjects. Its working but the draw back is i need to install the software on each client machine in order to print the label. So my plan is to just create an HTML version of the label and print directly to the zebra printer. But, because I cannot change the page settings (margins) in the browser via the web, the printing does not line up on the label. Only if I set the browsers page setting with 0 Margins I can get it to print properly. I need a control designed so I can set these margins for the zebra printer to 0 when printing from the web. Can you help?

I would suggest just doing something simple with CSS - and the margins. It might be that easy.

Produce the label but use CSS to change the margins before displaying it on the screen.

Take a peek at this - http://www.w3schools.com/CSS/css_margin.asp - if it might work for you.

Yes I tried using CSS for accomplish this. CSS has no control over the page setup margins within the browser for printing on the client side. any other ideas? Thanks..

Let me just make sure I understand this - even though you can have your label on the HTML page the way you want, when it gets sent to the printer, the margins need to be controlled when it gets sent to the printer, correct? This is the reason for the activex control.

Are you familiar at all with VB 6 and creating DLLs? I would go about using the Printer object to play with the margins that way. I've had some success with that object and getting things into the direct upper left hand corner of a print out.

You could load the DLL on your web server and pass in a printer name perhaps and send back something when completed.

Not sure all of the details but probably the way I would approach it.

What was your solution?  I'm in a similar situation, except that I need to print to a POS receipt printer.
