How do I configure JDBC adapter plugin to use correct connection adapter for IBM AS400 databases?

I am attempting to create a simple CRUD application with JRUBY on RAILS using the activerecord-jdbc-adapter. I modified the jdbcDB2 connection adapter based on info found on public web sites. However, I seem to be having a configuration problem because the SQL syntax being generated is MYSQL compatible and not IBM UDB compatible. IS anyone else experiencing similar problems?
