Regsvr32 is called on asptools.dll, from within a DOS prompt, in the directory in which asptools.dll is located. It fails returning the error
regsvr32 DLLreisterServer in asptools.dll failed Return code was: 0x8004005
I tried this from RUN command. Same result. This same command works fine on my devel machine and my test server, but fails at the customer site (figures!).
The server in question is Windows 2003 SP2, IIS6.0. Date on Regsvr32.exe is same as my test server, 3/24/2005.

I've run it and it shows me a dll which it can't open. The thing is, it registered fine on this machine...maybe I should run dependency walker on the box that has the problem? Once I find the dll that's missing, how do I handle that situation...find it on any machine I have here, and copy it up to that box? If so, what directory?
The missing file is MSJAVA.DLL. However, the two machines this is working on fine, don't have this file either. ASPTOOLS.DLL was created by visual foxpro. The two machines that registered it fine have this software on it. I would hate to think I'd have to install visual foxpro on their *server to solve this. COM isn't supposed to work like that. I guess I thought COM was supposed to deliver a self-contained DLL, and that dependencies don't come into play, at least during registration.
Could you clarify your thinking on this dependency thing? Thanks!

Missing dependencies are always going to be a problem. get yourself the dll from here

Thanks for that, but didn't help yet...downloaded and registered msjava successfully. Still had same error. Checked ASPTOOLS.DLL again with Dependency Walker, which now has *no errors.
So, then, trying to simplify, created simple test COM out of visual foxpro, and it too failed. The Visual Foxpro code for the test COM:
DEFINE CLASS ASPFoxHelper AS Custom OLEPUBLIC
FUNCTION INIT (lcPath as String)
SET RESOURCE OFF
SET EXCLUSIVE OFF
ENDFUNC
ENDDEFINE
Hmmmmmmm.........
PPS - Digging further, I read a west-wind post by the owner of that site, Rick Stahl, who says you have to have the Visual Foxpro Runtimes installed in the machine. I think my problem may be that I don't have VFP Runtimes. I'll need now to ask *this question, since I don't know how to install only the runtimes. I'll keep you posted, but please feel free to add your comment.

That error usually means a required dll file was missing (dependency). You can run dependency walker to find out if there are other DLLs needed. You can download it at the customer site from here
