Question

Problem with Camera Control Pro 2 w/ Nikon D60

Asked by: zambuka42

I have camera control Pro 2 v2.4.0. When I attach my D60, it says that the camera is not detected. However, windows detects it fine and allows me to do everything else with it with no problem. I saw other people fixed this by going to v2.3.0. I did that as well to no avail. Please help

zambuka42,

OK, some debugging questions for you:
1) Are you connecting directly or going through a USB hub? Make sure you are plugged in directly to a USB port on the BACK of your computer.
2) What Firmware version is on your D60? (Press the MENU button and select "Firmware Version" from the setup menu. The camera's firmware version will be displayed.) While there's been no firmware upgrade released for the D60, there are two different versions in the wild.

Cheers,
LHerrou

I am connected directly.. tried both usb slots. As for the firmware: A-1.00, B-1.01

And, just to verify, your camera is turned on when you are connected?

Sorry, this one got away from me. Are you still having problems?

If not, can you post what steps you took to fix it?

If you are, how about trying Raymond Lowe's free tool for tethered shooting:

Meaning you can't shoot with Camera Control Pro, or that you can't shoot remotely at all? If you can use the other program, then maybe we can sort out why CC Pro won't work.

by: zambuka42Posted on 2009-03-10 at 15:12:26ID: 23852092

ok, well, yes, the other program does work.

by: lherrouPosted on 2009-03-10 at 15:38:04ID: 23852279

So, we've established that the hardware (computer, cables, and camera ) is functional, but CC Pro simply won't detect the camera. Are you using Camera Control Pro v.2, or have you upgraded to 2.1? If not, get it here: ftp://ftp.nikon-euro.com/Software/kIQVSFTOnu/CCP21_EN.exe

by: zambuka42Posted on 2009-03-10 at 15:40:09ID: 23852300

actually i have 2.4.0

by: lherrouPosted on 2009-03-10 at 15:52:27ID: 23852385

Oh, sorry... that's right 2.1 was the first that supported the D60, and the latest is 2.4.0 Hmm. OK, is your camera set, under USB settings, to PTP (not Mass Storage)? You can see the menus here: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond60/page12.asp

by: zambuka42Posted on 2009-03-10 at 15:56:55ID: 23852416

well, there's something... i don't have that option. However, i didn't see any firmware updates available either

by: lherrouPosted on 2009-03-10 at 19:32:35ID: 23853521

Try this: Go to the Set Up Menu (the wrench icon) and change "CSM/setup menu" to "Full" to see all the set up options. Then you should see the USB options, Mass storage or PTP.
