Printing: Reversing Black & White

I am trying to print a floorplan in Acrobat Reader. The floorplan's open areas in the picture are all in black, and the lines (representing walls, etc) are in white. Printing this much black would waste a bunch of ink and be difficult to fax or make copies of. Can someone please tell me how to reverse the black and white (make all the black areas print white, and the white lines print black). Please help! Thank you!

These instructions may not be precise, but as long as you use your default PostScript printer you should be able to do it:

1.  Go to File -> Print...
2.  Check the box "Print as Image"
3.  Go to Printer Properties, Graphics, Print Negative
4.  Proceed to print

Note that printing time may be significantly slower.

OK. I got as far as checking the Print As Image box. Nowhere in my printer properties can I find anything similar to Graphics or Print Negative! Maybe I am not looking in the right place? I am using reader version 5 if that helps?

Seems to work fine for me when I tested on Acrobat 5.1 on Windows98.

Are you using Windows or Macintosh?  And what Printer did you select in the Print dialog?

You may just have to open the PDF in Photoshop and use the Invert command.

The part they forgot to mention is you need a Postscript Printer Driver for your particular printer - go download the Adobe PostScript Printer Drivers at:

http://www.adobe.com/products/printerdrivers/winppd.html

(these are printer drivers for specific printers)

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=44&platform=Windows

(this is the generic Adobe Postscript Printer Driver)
