Hello,
We've had an on going problem with our software and adobe for some reason. Many would say it was our software that was causing this issue but it isn't. We've QA'd and QA'd this some more. It is some bug with Acrobat. Our software allows users to e-mail off forms in PDF format. This is what they would do:
1. In our software, they would click on the File button.
2. Then choose E-mail.
3. Then choose Forms. At this point they can choose what forms they would like to e-mail off as PDF documents.
4. Once they have choosen their documents, they then click the Send button. This in turn prompts their default e-mail application to open, whatever it maybe i.e. Outlook, Outlook Express or some form of Internet Mail like Yahoo or Hotmail to open.
5. The PDF file is automatically created and attached to their e-mail, so all they have to do is enter in the receipants name and click the send button and e-mail and attachment are on their way. That's it.
What is happening is this: When they click File>E-mail>Form and then choose their forms, they click the "Send" button within our software and they get this error message. ""PDF Driver Init Failed".
Our software installs Acrobat 5.0 for the user. It also installs the required files needed for Acrobat to perform this operation in our Applications directory which houses the softwares main executable, the names of thos files are:
1. CDintf.dll
2. FLLintf.dll
3. Acfpdf.dll
4. Acfpdfu.dll
5. Acfpdfui.dll
6. Acfpdf.drv
7. Acfpdf.txt
8. Install.exe
This problem has haunted us for sometime now and we cannot figure it out. It happens mainly on Windows XP machines for some reason. This is what we've done in the past to try and correct it:
1. Giving admin access to System32 directory Drivers folder. (Was done in earlier versions of our software. No need to do this now though because it installs the files above in our applications directory.
2. Installing the OEMSetup.ini file and renaming their Printer to Amyuni PDF Converter.
3. Re-install Acrobat.
4. Re-install our software.
5. Go to Start, Run and type regsvr32 c:\winpoint\cdintf.dll. If that file registers okay, then try to generate forms again.
We've done a number of other things as well but it's not helping, this problem happens intermediantely for some reason on XP boxes. Any help or suggestions you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Victor
