Previous answers were not for version 7.....can anyone help?
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI'm using Win Xp Pro SP2 at work with Adobe Acrobat 7 Pro (updated to 7.0.3)
Everything works, and another system has the same program which works perfectly, but mine does not print. Instead, I get a pop up message: "Before you can perform print-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer"
Is it kidding? I work in a Print Shop!?!? I have a Canon 900 Colour Printer, a Canon 3200 Colour Printer, and an Image Runner 105 (as well as a Digital Plate Maker) all networked together without a problem.
Can someone PLEASE help me figure this out? I have uninstalled / reinstalled, checked printers for "Adobe PDF" printer (which is there, shared and active), checked preferences and allowed it to reboot to make new preferences, still nothing. I need help urgently!!
Thanks!

Sorry, I mean printing to a "real" printer. In trying to output a hard copy, I get the above error. I really have to get this fixed...we're getting busier in the shop and not being able to output from Acrobat 7 is a serious drawback. Like I mentioned, all other PCs in the shop output just fine...except mine. Any suggestions?

Well....very interesting.
It seems the culprit was Norton Internet Security.
Disabling Norton for a moment allowed Acrobat to print with no problem at all. Setting the configuration to "permit all" for Acrobat allows me to print PDFs while maintaining Norton Security as active.
Truly I'm beginning to hate Norton more and more these days.
Anyway, to khkremer. Thanks for the input....what do I do now? I have no problem awarding something (at least you answered me!) for this question.....just let me know how to do that.
cheers,
Michael
I experienced this problem it appears to be a design flaw, either intentional or accidental, in Adobe products. when the software cannot find the default printer (or if the drivers are corrupted) it will return this error. I found this with a pc defaulted to a printer hosted on another workstation no longer present, changing the default to a different printer solved the problem, the reason this doesnt affect programs such as MS word is that if they cannot connect to the default printer it will display all printers in the dialog and expect the user to chose correctly.

Post is correct in our environment... When NO printer was selected as default the program baulked and gave us the error... Once ANY printer was highlighted and selected as "default printer" then it worked!

Note: "Detect and Repair" functions, and asks for reboot, but no matter how many times I do so, the problem remains. Sorry, should've mentioned this before. Is there any other setting I'm missing?
