Turns out it was a problem with the acutally printer using old equiptment. We are changing printers this June and a test with them had no problems. Thanks for your time and effort

Question
Black and White Gradients Banding on Color pages
We use Adobe acrobat pro to PDF our pages and send them up to our printer's FTP Site. Currently we are having a problem with Black and White ads on Color pages. If the Black and White ad is on a color page it will print in the paper with banding occuring on the black and white Gradient. The Printer uses a Panther RIP which prints to plates. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
The Gradients are Created in InDesign, Maybe there is another way of creating gradients.

Hi
There should not be an issue with banding in the gradient.
What options in Distiller are you using? Does your printer have the ability to generate job options for the panther rip? If not select High Quality Print options from the option window (need to display advanced options for these to appear)
When you check the Output Preview in Acrobat, how does the gradient appear before and after changing j-o's?
