Fitting 4 pdf pages on 1 a4 booklet piece of paper for printing

Asked by Lifes_a_game in Adobe Acrobat

I'm trying to fold a single piece of a4 paper into a landscape view booklet, which when folded in half will contain 2 pdf pages on each side (after staples).  So in other words one single piece of a4 paper (unfolded etc) will contain 16 pdf pages of information double sided.  (I've tested it and the measurements will fit and I can read it well just can't get it to print all on one a4 page).

 pg2                                                pg3

---------------------------------------------------------------- Staples go here (this would be opening the a4
pg4                                                 pg5                                                    booklets cover/first page)

I have adobe acrobat professional, will I need plug-ins?
Excuse the poor diagrams and the inherent confusion in the question but help would be greatly appreciated.

Alternatively, 4 pdf pages on one side of a a4 page would be good enough.

Like so

 pg1                             pg2 |
                                           | Single a4 unfolded
