Adobe Acrobat 8 crashes when printing

I have Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard Pro edition. All of a sudden, Acrobat crashes when printing. The exact error message is, Adobe Acrobat 8.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

In the application log I have: Faulting application acrobat.exe, version 8.1.0.137, faulting module msvcr80.dll, version 8.0.50727.762, fault address 0x0001507a.

I have done a Windows reload and start fresh. Same problem. I have applied all updates, even uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat. No luck. I also installed Adobe Illustrator and Indesign. The pdf was made with Indesign. But same problem. Sometimes I get right after the error of Acrobat encountered  error, a CPc10D.exe encountered a problem and needs to close. That is related to canon printer software. I think it's unrelated but I am printing to a network printer Canon C2620 with PCL5 drivers loaded. I tried googling and found a few tricks such as with Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86). But no luck

    Have you tried to upgrade the printer driver to the latest version?

    when you say "all of a sudden" that means the printer was working fine before?
    and did you format and reinstalled the OS?

    if yes to both answers, that have you yet tried to print any PDF from acrobat to any other netwokr printer or printing to this printer from any other system with acrobat?

    Yes I did format the system and reinstall XP Media Center Edition (recreated raid 1). Printing was working fine until Tuesday morning. Windows updates?? I have already tried upgrading the latest printer drivers. No luck.

    One thing I just  tried is networking a shared HP Printer 2550 via another workstation. Adobe still crashes but wating 5 mins it starts printing. I am thinking of reloading the system and not installing any updates and try that.

    Any suggestions? I am loading Adobe pro 8 on my own machine and try this pdf file for further diag.

    Hi david08,

    When your printer prints, if the MB is more than 2MB < it would take sometime. But since u said everything was fine until you proceed another updates.

    -my solution-
    1) Windows update is very very recommanded for you, because it patches your computer bug and security.
    2) You can try to uninstall your Adobe pro 8, and go to program files to clean the folder completely too. and reinstall again, it should work fine, if the update is giving you problem. Try not to update it till a newer updates are available in later days.

    you can uninstall the updates from Add\Remove Programs and then check...no need to start over.

    The problem was caused by a particular file. The solution was to select 'print as image,' under Print->Advanced->Print as image. It does not process links etc, is what Adobe support told me. I also reloaded it because Adobe was crashing so often (to diagnose the problem) that the Canon printing spooler service was preventing printing altogether. Start fresh and no further problems.
