The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

pdf file extremely slow to print---only on one printer. . .

Asked by TeamMISCBC in Adobe Acrobat

Tags: , ,

Background information: all clients use xp, and the servers all have windows 2003 server.

When we print adobe pdf files on two different printers ... the job takes about 4 times as long to print.
We have one domain at work, and about 7 different network copier/printers. The model is konica minolta's bizhub c451.
We have other black and white printers/copiers, but one of these two is the trouble printer. ONE prints pdf files
rather quickly---about 1-1/2 minutes for an 8 page file. The other one takes about 4-5 minutes...and I can see the progress on the xp machine used to send the print jobs...the progress bar slowly moves on the slow printer. I even tried a black & white printer--fast just like the fast color printer.
Things I have tried :
Two different pc's (two different domain user logins---same speed printing pdf files), I checked the properties on the
printers (from the domain user's pc ----from printers and faxes--all the same, mostly---more on that in a second). . .
two different domain user accouts...same thing.

NOTE-- I did pull up printer properties on the user's pc (from  windows xp printers and faxes)...I found only one minor difference. On the "ports" tab...the slow printer uses the ip address, and the fast printer (both color, both same exact model of konica minolta printer)...uses the printer name on the network, instead of it's ip address. I thought I was onto
something important, and then printed to a black and white printer...that uses the ip address (just like the slow one above)...fast as the color printer that uses the printer name on the ports tab.

Any ideas?
