We have an XP workstation that is printing PDF's very slowly. I can see that there are numerous incidents of this happening, but none seem to address our particular issue. The things I have noticed is that changing the resolution on the printer (Samsung 1650 - USB connection) does not make any difference, and there are very limited changes that can be made to the default printer settings. I have tried a couple of different PDF readers and they are all the same.
When I change the actual printer to another one on the network, this resolves the problem staright away.
Are we doomed for thsi particular printer, or does anyone have any suggestions as to what we can try?

The PDF's in question are usually just one page. I have the settings to print straight away. I have noticed though that when I select a different printer on the network, this problem does bot arise.
I have it set currently at 300dpi, and even when draft is selected, it makes no difference. Are we doomed to replace the printer?
The documents are usually 1 page, thats all.
We have a postscript priner and a PCL5 printer. Both take longer than they used to. Was working OK, went on hols, came back and then slow printing. I have also noticed that when in Adobe Acrobat V9, when we go to file and print options, it also takes a long time to open up.
I have notice that we have XP Service pack 3 installed, could this cause this kind of problem?
OK, I found what the problem was from a document on the internet. It was something within the users profile. When we created a new user it worked fine, so we removed the current user, deleted their users folders etc, and re created them as a new user, and it worked fine. Not sure what the specific problem was, but this worked for us. Thanks for all assistance.

What size files are you trying to print off?
Is the printer set to wait untill all pages are sent/spooled or begin printing straght away?
Also check the resolution again and see if you have a normal/draft/fast option along side the dpi
