Using Mac/Snow Leopard. I have a directory full of doc files. I need to convert them to pdf. Any way to just right click on the files and 'convert to pdf'? I have adobe acrobat pro.
Any way to batch convert a whole directory of doc to pdf automatically? (Without purchasing a program. Free is ok.)

What version of Acrobat Pro do you have?
If you have the Pro version, you should also then have Distiller, and should be able to use that to convert the files. I'm pretty sure it can convert Word files. Let me know what version you have, and I will check on my copy to be certain I am correct on this, and then help you determine how to execute it.
Arobat Pro can convert doc files to pdf, but first you should make sure that you have installed ALL components , including Distriller . Then when you right click the file , "convert to Adobe PDF"appears.
As far as i know , there's no convenient way to do batch .(Some third party software can,but always cause format wrong).And there is a good free software to convert doc to pdf as "Kingsoft Office"

If you do have Distiller, and if it can convert Word files, if memory serves me correctly in Distiller you can setup Distiller so it will automatically convert files. I believe that it is a "Watched Folder" option (going from memory now...). You can create a folder for this operation, and when you setup the "Watched Folder" it will create the "In" , and "Out" folders inside that folder when you "point" it to that newly created folder.
Then all you have to do is drop the file you want converted into the "In" folder, and Distiller will automatically convert the file, and put the resulting file (PDF) into the "Out" folder (obviously Distiller must be running). You can apply specific options to that Watched Folder, which applies the settings for the file conversion. This is how I had setup Distiller in a previous company so users could use this work flow for converting files.
If you go into the Distiller help you should be able to locate the information for the "Watched Folder" option and how to set it up.
