Unable to install Adobe Reader 9.2

I am attempting to install Adobe Reader 9.2, but after clicking on the "download" dialogue box, the program does not continue any further. The gold security bar at the top of the page does not flash, nor does the install box come up as it normally does. I've tried turning off the firewall, as well as norton a/v 2009, and I made sure that there was no previous reader versions that needed to be removed first. I even downloaded revo uninstaller in case the windows add/remove didn't list it. I also tried it from different sites (file hippo, softpedia, etc) to make sure it wasn't the adobe site. I'm sure I'm missing something silly, so if anyone has a suggestion I would be most appreciative...thankis!
