I am running an internet cafe and all PCs are Windows 2000 Professional is installed with OEM License. Along with other required applications i.e. MS Office, WinRAR, VLC, Yahoo Messenger, I have also installed Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.0 so that PDF files can be viewed.
Now, I always notice on the system tray that Adobe Updater is running and downloading updates from internet. I have attached the screen shot.
I DO NOT want to run Adobe Updater as I do NOT want to get updates from Adobe. It just consumes my internet bandwidth that my customer can use in surfing other websites. They experience slow internet speed and I suspect, it is because of this Automatic Updater of Adobe.
Please tell me how to permanently disable Adobe from going over internet and bring updates.
Regards.

I am not able to see Preference Tab exactly like the snap shot you sent. But yes, I launched adobe application and in Edit--->Preferences---->Gene
Check for updates.
I am including the snap shot. Is it the same you are telling. I am confused because screen shots are different.
@Murali1984
I read the link and found that it is for Adobe Creative Suite because in my W2K PC, in the following location: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\App
1. Adobe
2. AIR
3. Flash Player, and
4. Linguistics
And I DO NOT find Updater5 folder anywhere. HOWEVER, I could find "Adobe_Updater.exe" in the location: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater6. BUT...when I execute, it just starts downloading updates and does NOT show me any option to go in "Preferences".
WILL DELETING THIS FILE WORK !!!
@jkofte
I think you and KCTS are telling the same thing. BUT...for me, I am not able to find the screen shot shown by KCTS. Please read my comment for KCTS.

You will not be able to do anything unless you install a firewall and block it all together.Disabling it in program wont work (you can try) and deleting relative files might make your adobe products useless.Not even all firewalls block it completely (Norton Internet security blocks it from acessing the internet but the updater icon will still show).Kaspersky seems to be blocking it nicely...
I can write a book how adobe tries to outsmart pirates in their software with 'phone home' thingie...

I know no way of doing it globally, but you can go to Preferences and untick the options to automatically update
