Adding a Scan Button to our web page

We have a program that is web based.  This product is open source and allows us to use it for a document flow system. We are able to pass documents to others in our organization.  When we come to the "attach document" we would like to be able to have a button that we hit to scan the document without having to go out and find our scanner button and scan then come back to the program.  Is there any think we can put in the web page that will create a little button that will open a scanner dialog box or anything of the sort?  If that is possible can we have it populate the file name based on where the scanner saved the document and names it?
