Although this is not a serious problem -- I've suffered through it for quite a while -- it can be a significant annoyance in some situations.
Background: I often use the "Adobe PDF" virtual printer installed with Acrobat 7.0 Pro. Occasionally, I encounter a source that this printer doesn't handle properly. Therefore, I have the printer's properties set to open the resulting PDF file so that I have visual confirmation that I got acceptable output. This is especially important for me when I don't have or am not planning to keep a copy of the source from which I'm "printing."
Problem/Annoyance: As described above, I usually only want quick evidence that the PDF file is acceptable and then close the file shortly after it opens. The problem is that if I close the file too quickly -- in, say, under 5-10 seconds -- it opens again. Some of my work requires creating lots of PDF files. In such a circumstance, letting all the PDF files remain open causes Acrobat to start consuming inordinate amounts of resources. Waiting, say, 10 seconds to close each file after it opens becomes very annoying.
I have attached a JPG image of the way my "Adobe PDF Printing Preferences" are set. If I uncheck the "View Adobe PDF results" box, the resulting files do not open at all -- which is not what I want.
