I use a Windows Pre-Installation Environment CD, but I am not familiar with a Ghost one? Are you meaning that you simply want an ISO of the WinPE CD?

by: ashjuvPosted on 2009-01-29 at 21:17:57ID: 23505464

yes, apparently it already contains a program called norton ghost in it that can be used to ghost images.

Do you know where to download the winpe iso image from

Yes, you can download it here...http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ but I use ghost all the time If you are thinking that their is going to be a Graphical User Interface version on the PE CD I would not count on it, it is a licensed product. The Ghost that people may refer to is going to be the Ghost.exe file, more then likely. This Ghost executiable expects you to dump your Image file to a Ghost Server already in place.

The link above is just one version of a Windows Pre-Installation CD, I like the way this person lists the proccess and thought it would be helpfull for you:-)

Pebuilder is an application to make your own winpe(Bartpe) it is not a usable iso until you create  it.

Try these out WWW.ultimatebootcd.com a download you can use right away

http://www.ubcd4win.com/ will help you build a UBCD with alot more options than above

Hi ashjuv,
You can copy disk to disk, or disk to Image and or Image to disk with the Ghost.exe disk created by the Symantec Ghost application. #Edited by ModernMatt 31 Jan 2009#

ashjuv,

Keep in mind that when I refer to the above comment, I am referring to a Hard Drive to Hard Drive:-)

by: ashjuvPosted on 2009-01-29 at 22:20:01ID: 23505666

yes, that's all i require, a disk to disk or disk to image. etc. Please and thanks so much!!!

www.acronis.com

and buy true image home.  it's only a few dollars and comes with a Bootup CD Creator. so you can move your images around etc.

only skimmed over the above suggestion so apologise if this has already been requested.

Also Ghost is a proprietry program owned by Symantec and you need to buy it first, and use bartPE to build a windows boot up environment and configure the ghost plugin and add it to the plugins directory during the setup.

Try Acronis, It's Cheap.

A side note to what ~Jaymz said, I have used "Acronis" and it is a very good tool :-) And excellent guidance for Ghost license info and use with the BartPE CD.

Hi ModernMatt,

Just to be clear, I would under no circumstance promote distribution of a licensed product. I merely offered to create a CD/Diskette that the requestor of this issue would have to add their licensed version of "Ghost.exe" to it after I created it for them. I offered because it seemed the user was lost, and did not know ehre to begin.
