Font Manager recommendation for PC

Font manager for PC (XP Pro SP2)

What is a good font manager these days? I have accumulated around 400 font files over the years of graphic design projects.

FontReserve barely works (today it doesn't); and the new FontExplorerX is not yet ready for prime time (i wish it were, the features are superb); and other solutions are for Mac only, or have discontinued PC support.
Years ago i used ATM, but fell out of favor with it.

Willsherwood,

400 font files is not really a large amount for modern versions on Windows. Unlike previous versions of Windows, there's no actual limit in XP, although too many fonts will slow your system. I try to stay under 3-400 installed at any one time (from 8,000+ actual font files).

Some font managers you might look at include AMP Font Viewer (free: http://www.ampsoft.net/utilities/FontViewer.php), The Font Thing (free, no recent updates: http://members.ozemail.com.au/~scef/tft.html), Typograf (try for 30 days: http://www.neuber.com/typograph/), X-Fonter (pay: http://www.blacksunsoftware.com/), and Extensis Suitcase for Windows (pay: http://www.extensis.com).

My recommendation would be Typograf, unless you need the added control of Suitcase.

Another interesting product is FontAgent Pro.

One of the nicest features of this product, is the preview.
You can see the preview of your fonts playing, pausing or stopping it when you found what you are looking for. Also, the possibility to print a catalog of the fonts is aother nice things.

Thank you all for your excellent suggestions.
I ended up going with fontagent pro. it seemed the most reliable and featureful
and the flash previewer is wonderful.
(Turns out there were 2800 fonts)
