original fonts and settings

I recently updated my computer with the service pack and have now got the wrong fonts. I have unfortunately messed things up worse by trying to fix it. How do I resotre the orignal settings. My explorer pages are not fitting the screen also and I have tried fixing the options and encoding, but no change. I have also done a system restore to an earlier date and again...no help.
