Error installing fonts

I am trying to install some new fonts.  I have downloaded them and they seem to be in the correct format.  There is approx 16 of them.  To install them I tried copying them into c:\windows\fonts and received an error (screenshot attached)....I then went to start>run> and typed %windir%\fonts and went to file > install new font , browsed to the folder I had them in.  It recognized the fonts.  I selected them and when they started to install I received the same error again.

What am I doing wrong?

Do not copy the files - go to the FONTS option in Control Panel use File (or it may be Font)->New Font, browse for the fonts and add them that way

Here's the official method from http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA010947421033.aspx.
 Note  If you are using Control Panel Classic view or Microsoft Windows 2000, double-click Fonts, and then go to step 4.

1. In Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes.


2. In the task pane, under See Also, click Fonts. Note  If a folder tree appears instead of the task pane, click Folders on the toolbar, and then under See Also, click Fonts.

3. On the File menu, click Install New Font.
In the Drives list, click the drive you want.

4. In the Folders list, double-click the folder that contains the fonts you want to add.
Under List of fonts, click the font you want to add, and then click OK.

This did not work.  It gave me the same message. This is the same window that I got to going the other ways anyways.  :(    It says windows is using it.  I rebooted and still the same problem.

If  that file is in use then the font is already installed - so don't try and re-add this font.

The font is not already installed.  I checked.  I have 25 new fonts and none of them are installed yet and all of them give the same error.  Sorry.

I figured it out.  For some reason the software on this IBM Thinkpad keeps removing my administrator access and I have to keep re-adding myself.  After I did that it worked.   They installed perfectly the way I tried to do it in the first place from the Microsoft site.

Sorry to waste your time.
