I've been hunting for a few hours on sites such as MyFonts, and for some bizarre reason any of the typefaces that feature reverse numbers end up applying their numbers to non-number keys. I need them to be properly sequenced with the number keys (I think) because I want to apply the font to the numbers in the customized Numbering feature for a Microsoft Word style modification.

If you use my approach, set up a character style based on the Default Paragraph Font. Set it with Font color: White and use Borders and Shading to choose Fill=Black, Style=Clear, Apply to: Text. When applied to one or more characters, this will give you the reverse effect. Note that it applies to any character, so you can use it for things you might not otherwise be able to source as a font (like the ¼ character in my example below).
Eric, lherrou:
Thanks for your ideas.
Yes Eric I actually did try creating a style as you mentioned. The trouble, of course, is that the size of the black background depends on the width of the number, so there is no uniformity. As a technical writer I need the numbers to be uniform which is why I would ideally like to use a typeface with a uniform circle or square background.
lherrou, I'm heartened to see that with Anticlimax at least someone actually thought to create a typeface with a character map that matches the numbers to the keyboard. The dot-matrixy look, though, is too odd for my use. I really just want a uniform black circle size for all single and double-digit numbers and a simple Arial or Arial-like bold sans-serif white face that maps one-to-one with the numbers character map. I'm quite surprised that this is turning out to be so difficult to source.
But thanks for your input so far, guys.
I'd have thought the height would be more of a problem because the shading uses the full line spacing. Digits in most fonts are all designed to be the same width -- in part to to ensure alignment in columns.

Guys, I've gone with a font on the fonts.com site that Eric referred me to. The face is

You can get the effect of reversing the numbers by setting the font in white and adding black shading. If you create a character style, you can apply it wherever you need the reversed effect. This might be easier and offer more flexibility than finding the font characters.
