If you're talking about a font for the lettering of street signs, this font may suit your needs. It is distributed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for use with GIS/map making software, but is a TTF and can be used as a normal font as well. It includes numbers and capital letters as on a typical street sign:
http://www.dnr.state.mn.us
(There are options to download the font for free with or without a special extension to GIS software at the bottom of this page:
http://www.dnr.state.mn.us
If a symbol font containing actual street signs (one-way, stop signs, no parking, etc.) would be of use to you, I have one I downloaded from fontaddict.com a while back that I like a lot. Unfortunately, that site seems to have dissappeared from the net (or perhaps changed it's URL?), but I can e-mail it if you're interested.
Good luck,
DCS
Greetings.
This question is still open today, perhaps it was overlooked or just lost in the volumes. Please return to this question to update it with comments if more information is needed to get your solution. If you've been helped by the participating expert(s), you may just convert their comment to the accepted answer and then grade and close. If an answer has ever been proposed you may not have this option to accept the comment as answer, if that is the case, ask the specific expert you wish to award to post an answer. This benefits others who then search our PAQ for just this solution, and rewards the experts who have provided information. A win/win scenario. Please DO NOT accept this comment as an answer, it is merely a reminder.
If you wish to award multiple participants, you can do so by creating a zero point question in the Community Support topic area, include this link and tell them which experts you'd like to award what amounts. If you'd like to delete this question, use the same process as above, but explain why you think it should be deleted. Here is the Community Support link: http://www.experts-exchang

I've had excellent help from experts-exchange through the years and find the real key to getting what I need is to remain active in all my questions, responding with results to suggestions until my solution is found, and recommend that highly.
Thank you very much for your responsiveness, it is very much appreciated.

The Department of Transportation has defined a series of fonts that now tend to go by the name of Highway Gothic, or in one case Interstate. I haven't found any free instances of that font, but you can purchase it for around $40-65 at a few places around the Net. Here are some links:

Larabie makes a font called Blue Highway that could well serve your needs. Both the freeware and Deluxe versions of the font are described here:
