Need to descrease download time

I would like to put a picture on my company webpage and have the picture then randomly changed.  I have created the page and added the coding to randomly display the pic's.  The problem is that they are causing my page to download very slowly.  I am new to web development and am not sure what the best solution would be.  Each of the pic's is only between 30 and 40KB.  

Any suggestions?
