To convert a BMP file to ICO file.

Sir,
Can You please tell me , how to convert a .bmp picture file to .ico file.In my system there is no photoshop application installed.

MicroAngelo allows you to create icons. You can import bitmap files and convert them to icons.

You could try this freeware:

The above seems to be shareware now. I had used it some time ago.
You can also try:

http://www.snidesoft.com/products.html

..which is freeware. I have also used this and it works well. Just go to File>Import and import your bitmap.

also with windows PAINT you can simply save as whatever.ico

When you save a BMP as an ICO in Microsoft Windows Paint, it still is a BMP, although the newer Windows versions can use the file as an icon. A freeware program to really convert the image to an icon is Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/). This is a simple image-editor and converts almost all types of imagefiles to other types.
