We have several publishers that give us tracking links to track traffic we deliver to them... the URL often looks like:
http://www.domain.com/?utm_source=company&utm_medium=CPC&utm_campaign=companyCPCTHis is what they use for Google Analytics. We find that we are seeing anywhere from a 40% to 70% discrepancy in traffic from what Google reports to our internal tracking systems.
We also have other publishers that are using third party tracking systems such as Omniture, Nielsen, and ROIA; and they are all 100% on ball with our internal tracking systems.
We are wondering why this is the case? Is it because Google Analytics is a free system that it misses some traffic during peak times?
Anyone have any info would be greatly appreciated.
