Outlook Authentication Process

Can some one describe the outlook authentication process or forward me a link if you know one that explains this? I am particular interested in how NTLM is picked when "Negotiate" is specified in Oulook 2007, or when 'NTLM/Kerberos" is specified in Outlook 2003.
