Well that is like asking "How long is a piece of string?"
I've built a few different web store fronts and each was very different based on the needs of the customer.
Look at it this way, a grocery store and a clothing store both sell goods, but completely differently. A clothing store might have everything on hangers and not need shelves, while a grocery store needs shelves, refrigerators et cetera.
