You want to change the style of this element, the main problem being to know which style.
I would suggest that you install the web developer add in on your firefox, and that you then use its CSS facilities to find which style is used (CSS / see style of an element) and to test changes (CSS / Edit CSS).
Not sure how familiar you are with Magento... do NOT change/ edit the css files in .../skins/.../default/css/
You need first to make a complete copy of .../skins/.../default/ into .../skins/.../mystyle/ and select mystyle as the skin. You can then safely make changes to any css file: it will not be overwritten at the next Magento update!!
