Thanks AJK - I use the Overture tool for Yahoo -- it's really Google I'm trying to figure out. I'm going to look into WordTracker -- thanks for the suggestion.

Hi pbrasket,
i am not sure if there is a tool which lets you know the actual month, not even Google on their own tools (http://www.google.com/web
the url above will show you the amount of times the word “job” was typed into Google by typing it into the search box. although it does not stated the range these results were from, it seems to change frequently.
i have used wordtracker before in the passed, good tool, but it can give a lot of bad words, you really need to know more about keywords before you use such a tool (not saying you already dont) otherwise you could be targting the wrong ones.

I am a happy user of Web-CEO, which I think is probably, even in its free edition, one of the best tools you may use to answer your question. And some others as well.

Wordtracker is probably the most accurate: ng.net/wor dtracker/a f.cgi?8101
com. But this only covers Yahoo.
