Browse All TopicsI have a pastor that got a negitive review on merchantcircle.com. all would be ok and no big deal if the person really existed. there is no person by that name anywhere around this area. The post does have truth in it as it is pointing to discriptions of the area and the goings on in the area however this person has signed in as a fake name and has left some non truths so now the Pastor has only a negitive review when a google search on his name is entered.
Is ther a way to
1. have the post removed with out paying the 34.95 for the 900 # call
2. Get the real name of the person so that the Pastor can meet with them and talk with them?

In response to 1, you can try to contact the site and let them know that they have libelous information on their site and request that they remove it. Most sites that allow for user generated content such as reviews, etc, also have systems in place for getting the bad stuff down. Here is their contact us page/info: http://www.merchantcircle. com/corpor ate/contac t.html.
If requesting that the site remove the review does not work, you 'can' threaten with legal action, but I would suggest that you steer clear of that and focus on how you can get more reviews posted that are accurate and from real people about this pastor. That way, when they see the negative comment, they will also see the positive ones.
Reputation management is a very long and delicate process where you can either fight the bad, or focus on the good. The thing about user generated content is that sometimes there is nothing you can do. Hopefully by responding to the site, you will get it removed. However, if that does not work, you are going to have to move to plan b, which I have found is most successful when you focus on getting good content written about the subject rather than trying to fight the bad.
Hope this helps!
