Thanks for using Experts Exchange.
 
WordPress is definitely the way to go. It's free, open source, easy to install (self-proclaimed 5-minute installs), extremely customizable, has more support, plug-ins, themes and widgets than any other blogging platform out there. Not to mention all of the great SEO and spam guards.
 
As the Web moves forward, WordPress, because it's open source and has so many people working on it around the word, it's going to continue setting the standards many designers and bloggers adhere to. So I'd go with WP, and let them do a lot of the work for you.
