301 Redirect - Does the destination domain get the link credit?

Asked by MFredin in Internet Search Engine Optimization, Search Engines

I've got a couple questions about link credit and 301 Redirects.

1st Question:
Does a 301 redirect give the destination domain all the credit for any links pointing to the origin domain?

2nd Question:
Say I have a website (www.websiteA.com) that sells flowers.  I decide to buy a domain that was once an established car battery sales site (www.websiteB.com).  They are now out of business but still have many good links. Assuming I do a 301 redirect from websiteB.com to websiteA.com, do I get all the link credit for that domain?

3rd Question:
Say my main website is flowersA.com (my main site).  I go out and buy flowersB.com which has no links to it and a 301 redirect to flowersA.com.   I then go to sites like DMOZ.org and setup 2 seperate profiles.  Will this do me any good or will DMOZ.org know what I'm doing and only give me 1 link?Start Free Trial
