My primary suspect is Digsby. Digsby has some CPU outsourcing components for providing processing power to research companies that I have turned off, but I suspect it is doing other things.
My question is, how do I block Digsby from accessing things it's not supposed to without removing the capabilities it is good for, like combine chat clients, email access, and social networking access. For these things it obviously needs ports 80 and 443. I realize that I have sacrificed a little security and privacy by trusting them, so maybe it's time to find another client. But I would much like to keep Digsby, while preventing these automated queries.

this will happen if you perform several site:domain.com, link:domain.com, or other advanced searches in a short period of time. There are automated tools that do these which is why they will ask you a question or block you out all together.
If you aren't doing advanced search queries, then you might have a virus or something.
I uninstalled Digsby to test, and it hasn't happened since. I'm wondering if Digsby was either infected or doing something it wasn't supposed to. I was hoping to simply block it on the firewall, but it uses the same ports to run the social networking updates, which is why I have it.
But I couldn't risk having a program that does things like that.
