How to play mp3 in a web page?

type this in the body of your HTML, the following code will give you the surfer the option to stop the music, choose which song he wants etc, it is a way of embedin mp3's into your page, it won't show up as a list but boxes with the option to press play stop or pause.

unfortunitly you have to do the same code for every mp3.

the code is.
<embed src="the name and directory of your mp3.mp3" autostart=true loop=1>


autostart=start mp3 automatically when the page opens.

loop=1 means the song will be looped 1, change the number 1 to the number of times you want it to loop.

The reqs I posted state that the code must loop through all the mp3's on the page .... not just one mp3.

Cheeky, your comments are good but most deal with sreaming (which the reqs say is a no-no) and don't explain how to loop through multiple mp3's.

This will play a song when the user clicks on it.

Now for sequential playing:
I am not sure.. I will look into it.

Nah, most browsers DON'T support real embedding of MP3 files anyway. It's better to embed MIDI files. Otherwise you will be asked to download plugin (RealPlayer or something).

If you want looping several songs, I suggest to make one big file including those songs. Check this:

GEM: It must be mps3's, no way around it. midi quality just isn't all that.

Both IE and Netscape support embeding of mp3's using plugins. And anyway this isn't for a web page. It's for a kiosk that I am configuring so I can make sure all the necessary plugins are installed before -hand.

I am trying to figure out how to setup JS to work for the sequential play.. does this have to be browser independent or do you just care for IE?

totsubo: why does it have to be browser then??? why not using any prog to play lists? Or use Napster to get files and play it. Well, anyway, I know I'm bit offtopic, but let me check how to do sequential play on HTML page (and check links too)

Gem: Because it's a kiosk. I'm using the browser as the interface. Everything must be done through the browser, and the files aren't on the local drive or LAN either ... they ahve to be accessed through the net.

CJ: Just for IE is fine. One problem I have been seeing though is that my mp3's are about 500k and it takes a while before they start playing ... why is this? (this even when the file is on the HD)

That is odd.. I am not sure why that is happening unless it is trying to read in the entire file before playing because it is not being streamed.

If it reads the entire file, then it still should take less time in cases when the file is stored locally on HDD

This question has been abandoned. Would the experts please indicate how
this should be closed out. Is there a comment which should be accepted?
