Window Style Menus across Frames or Iframes.

Right I've literally just joined up and had a quick serach for the solution to this problem. I found a question from 2001 answered by CobolDinosaur but wanted to know if anything has changed since then.

My problem.

I have a website which has to use (reluctantly) frames as it is one site which uses another site within its pages (a auction engine hosted on another computer from the main web server). At the moment, I have static menus but want to have the whizzy Windows style menus. I have looked into a few of these mostly from www.dynamicdrive.com (the HV menu) but none of these will cross over frames properly. I need it to work on the very least IE5 and NS6.

Ideally I want to use it with an Iframe instead of a frame but there is one problem, and that is the menus sit underneath the iframe. I know about the Z Order and I have used it but it will not work in IE5 (5.5 and 6.0 obviously OK). Is there any way round this short of telling my target audience to upgrade to at least IE5.5?
