In need of a counter and clock

I want to add a counter to my webpage.  However, i don't want to have one from some other place.   I want to be able to make the counter in my html code if it is possible.  So my question is:

What is the code for a counter?
How do I go about implenting it?


I would also like to add a clock to my webpage.
