The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Help with Anonymous Access and SharePoint v2!

Hi Experts.
I am confronted with quite a difficult problem here. We have a custom app based on the SharePoint object model, but it also makes extensive use of the SharePoint UI framework (for example, we use a lot of Web Parts, etc).

Obviously, SharePoint Portal Server and WSS are running on Windows Server 2003. The portal is running under IIS with INTEGRATED WINDOWS security.

The problem is that if we turn off Integrated Windows security (or switch to Anonymous), our entire app pretty much breaks because of all the SharePoint API calls that are required. Impersonating an SPS user is not an option either (we've tried it and SharePoint just doesn't like being anonymous).

Here is the problem: The system requires that anonymous users have access to some content which is stored in SharePoint. If anonymous access is on, we can't retrieve that content (because they are not logged in to SharePoint). If Integrated Windows is on, we cannot have anonymous users in the first place.

I am wondering if anyone has come across this problem before and what a suitable workaround will be. Obviously the first answer might not be the best so I will leave this question open until my group accepts the workaround.
