Browse All TopicsI am running XP SP2, with Visual Studio .NET 2003. I have created a simple ASP.NET Web Application and when I try to start it from within my IDE the browser is launched and I get and error:
Compiler Error Message: CS0016: Could not write to output file 'c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\
I have given the ASP.NET user full control of the Temporary ASP.NET directory in the security tab in the directory properties dialog. I went to the file explorer and looked at the directory attributes of the Temporary ASP.NET directory and it said that access was "Read Only". I then changed the permissions to Normal, and propigated the permission change to all the sub-folders and files. I then restarted my .aspx form in the IDE and I get the exact same error. So, I re-visited the file properties of the Temporaty ASP.NET directory and low and behold they are "Read Only" again. I suspected that if might be my virus software or the indexing service that was causing the permissions to change themselves to "Read Only", so I stopped both. Didn't work!
How can I get the access permission of my Temporaty ASP.NET directory to stay "Normal" instead of "Read Only" so I can execute my ASP applications?
